Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare to apply rust prevention and sound deadening materials
   • Job requirements are determined from workplace instructions
   • Application information is accessed and interpreted
   • Materials are calculated, selected and inspected for quality
   • Hazards associated with the work are identified and risks are managed
   • Tools and equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE), are selected and checked for serviceability
   • Work is planned to identify rust prevention methods, minimise waste, and avoid damage to vehicle
2. Prepare surfaces
   • Surfaces are cleaned according to workplace procedures and safety and environmental requirements
   • Surfaces are prepared for material application process without causing damage to components or systems
